Over the past weeks I have several times in Ohio, some by plane, some by car. Is it all a time consuming thing and correspondingly expensive, but time with Angela and the family compensated for the stress.

State Fair Louisville and Wedding in Indiana

Last weekend I met with Angela in Louisville with her parents and we are gone like last year, meet at the State Fair. The fair is kinda fair and fair in one. Live animals, exhibits, und Kirmesfahrgeschaefte halt. Dazu natuerlich Kaltgetraenke und Essen.
Samstags waren wir dann zu der Hochzeit von Angela's Schulfreundin Nikki und ihrem nun-Ehegatten Stuart (aus Neuseeland!) in Sprig Lick / Indiana eingeladen. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit zusammen und ich habe dann Louisville und Angela Sonntags mit viel Abschiedsschmerz verlassen.
Seitdem bin ich in Atlanta auf mich alleine gestellt; werde aber am kommenden Samstag (5.Sep) nach Ohio fliegen und dort fuer 4 Tage bleiben.

Back to Ohio?

Wie zuvor geschrieben, stand Ende Juli fest, dass die beiden Jungs nicht umziehen werden. Obwohl Angela zu Anfang versucht hat, damit umzugehen und mit mir und Emily in Atlanta wohnen bleiben wollte, haben wir uns dann doch entschlossen, dass ein Umzug nach Ohio die einzige Loesung ist.
Es sind nicht nur die beiden Kinder, es ist auch die Tatsache, dass Dublin (Ohio) fuer uns beide der Heimatort in den USA ist. Atlanta und die Umgebung passen einfach nicht zu uns. Dublin ist eine kleiner Stadt (50000 Einwohner) am Rande von Columbus mit eigener Geschichte und einer Community. Dabei ist man immer noch in 30 Minuten downtown Columbus und Columbus hat eine Menge zu bieten.
Die Atlanta Aussenbezirke wo wir wohnen ist eine Ansammlung von recht netten suburbs (Wohngebieten), dazwischen Supermaerkte und Tankstellen. Aber keine Stadt im eigentlichen Sinne, und daher fehlt auch voellig das Gefuehl einer Community. Nix fuer uns.

In der Zwischenzeit haben wir unser Haus fuer einen acceptable price rental (and the tenant would like to probably buy after the rent) and Angela's back in Ohio. With the help of friends we have leergeraeumt our house and set up my small apartment near the work, the rest went into a large rented truck and a trailer. Before last weekend I had the truck then, and Angela their Jeep with trailer drove to Ohio. Within 11 hours we had managed the 600 miles (about 1000km).
I will continue to work now for the time being in Atlanta and Angela visit every 2 weeks in Ohio until I find a job in Ohio. Ideally, continue with Siemens, the possibilities are limited. If not, I need to look for alternatives

I know I know, long time no longer posted on the blog.
But it's just too much been going on in my life. After
were for June and Angela's sons Tyler and Joshua a few weeks with us in a holiday was to establish definitively that the two do not move in with us.

Orlando (Florida)

This week, we went all together for 4 days from orlando. Angela's brother lived there for 12 years and we could spend the night with him in the house.
Donnersatg we drove to Cocoa Beach, near Cape Canaveral. The beach can be something similar as in the North Sea, but the sand nice and white and the water herlich warm! Friday we went to Epcot Center. Was interesting but 75Dollar is a lot of wood. Lucky for us that we had tickets to get from Siemens.

Saturday we went to Typhoon Lagoon water park. This is really a hit! The park is beautifully designed and the main attraction is a giant wave pool with waves. We were 7 hours there and I have been raging estimated 4 with the children in the wave pool.

Yesterday it then on the return journey. With a few stops then it took 9 instead of the usual 7 hour drive. But the trip was worth it!

Summer vacation

plays an update ... For about 10 days now Angela's sons Tyler and Joshua with us. The first half of their summer vacation all children with us in July and then with her father.
The weather is very nice (although sometimes too hot), so that we can still do a lot. We were, for example, Helen (Georgia), which is about 100km away from us.

Yesterday Angela's parents have arrived and they stay until Monday.

Living in Atlanta

As noted several weeks ago, I'll post here only rarely because I have misplaced my activities now to Facebook. S just a lot easier than maintaining such a blog.
We now live about 5 weeks in the new house. Experiments spaeter am Tag, mal ein paar Fotos zu machen und hier enzustellen. Mal sehen, wie das Wetter ist (ueberraschenderweise hatten wir viel Regen im Maerz und die Temperaturen waren gar nicht so "Suedstaaten-like").

Wie ihr ggf. wisst, ist zunaechst nur Angela's Tochter mit uns umgezogen. Die Soehne haben es vorgezogen, bis zum Schuljahresende bei ihrem Vater in Ohio wohnen zu bleiben. Mal abwarten, ob sie dann im Sommer kommen ... momentan schwinden die Hoffnungen da die Aussagen vor allem des aelteren Sohnes dem entgegensprechen...

Vorletzte Woche waren die beiden dann fuer eine Woche bei uns (in Ohio war schon Spring-break). Das Haus hat ihnen super gefallen, auch die Nachbarschaft. Allerdings waren negative Aeusserungen in Bezug auf die Multi-Kulti Umgebung zu hoeren (natuerlich gibt es hier -wenn auch wenige- andersfarbige EInheimische, dazu noch eine Vielzahl Asiaten.

In der Woche haben wir dann einige Highlights der Gegend besucht wie "Stone Mountain", das "Coca Cola Museum", und das weltgroesste Aquarium in Atlanta. Am ersten Wochenende kamen zudem Angela's Eltern zu Besuch, was eine sehr schoene Sache fuer uns alle war.

Angela ist gestern fuer eine Woche mit Emily "auf Tour" gegangen. Emily hat Spring break und daher sind die beiden Angela's Eltern in Kentucky und danach die beiden Jungs in Ohio besuchen. Bin also fuer rund eine Woche Strohwittwer.

Kommenden Freitag gehen wir zum Konzert von "Sugarland"; eine unserer Lieblingsbands. The concert is sold out, but we bought tickets early good

Move to Atlanta (Georgia)

Again a few lines in a blog ... our move to Atlanta is coming up. Next week Tuesday Moebelpacker come and pack our things Tue + Wed. Thursday will be then loaded the truck and our belongings (including my car) to go on a journey to the south. We (Angela, Emily, our dog, Harley, our cat Muffins us yours truly) take the Jeep on Friday initially to Louisville (Kentucky), in order to spend on the road to Atlanta a day with Angela's parents.
Saturday we will be arriving in our new home, some days before the furniture.

We look forward to our new home; viel groesser und schoener als das alte Haus, und mit einem Vollkeller mit viel Licht und Gartenausgang, da in Hnaglage gelegen.
Kummer macht uns unser Hausverkauf in Ohio. Nachdem wir schon einen Kaufvertrag (mit einer fuer uns ertraeglichen Summe) in der Tasche hatten, sind die vermutlichen Kaeufer wieder abgesprungen. Seitdem haben wir zwar im Schnitt jeden 2ten Tag Interessenten, die das Haus besichtigen, aber bis auf eine Witz-Offerte keine ernstgemeinten Angebote mehr erhalten.

Sieht so langsam nach einem echten Verlusgeschaeft aus ... aber zumindest haben wir unser neues Haus erheblich unter MArktwerb erworben, sodass es sich auf lange Sicht immer noch lohnt.

Uebrigens war im am Wochenende (genau gesagt fuer 2 Naechte) in Holzweiler to attend the birthday celebration of my mother. Sorry that I did not report at all, but this time was really no time to bop.

Moving - new house

Before Christmas I was with Angela once before house hunting. Back then, we also found a very nice house, even with a pool. However, we then once more intensively with the schools and therefore we opted for another school district in the area.
Since Angela had come to me with the car to Atlanta, she has seen in the following days, about 20 houses and found "our house. It is much bigger than our present, and in a privileged residential area (subdivision = "Huntington"). Above all, in the best school district for miles around.
The Northview High School is the second best ranking in all of Georgia. Middle and Elementary School are the highest rated in Antlanta County (Fulton), so perfect for the children.

as of Monday this week, our house in Dublin for sale. Again, we expect to have 3 "showings" had in the first week, and despite the snow and ice.
We hope that the house is sold by the end of February because by then we will lead the move to Atlanta.

Unfortunately I have ever written anything on the blog. Is because I have little time and for some time on facebook.com'm active. S just easier from and to put a little message here as to write texts.

What happened so far?
After Christmas, the children have plenty of gifted (we bought a few things of course), Angela and I went with Emily about the Feitertage to her parents in Louisville. There, we celebrated our wedding anniversary, if somewhat turbulent (the Bed & Breakfast feast has moved us to another room - after permanent complaints we will not have to pay at least the room).

New Year's Eve we celebrated with Angela's parents later that evening we went to Angela's friends (Nikki and Stuart).

Sunday 4 January Are we then to the car (I bought Charles's Mercury Grand Marquis) went to Atlanta. Angela came along, so not the 10 hours of travel are too long, they also wanted to look at houses (more on that later, see next post). The journey was an ordeal, as the motor of the car for some weeks Zicken make because the head gasket is leaking. Well yes, but everything worked out.

Since Monday the 5th January I am now every day at the office in Norcross, but am on the first weekend immediately flown to Ohio.
